The Tokyo Trio was founded in 2013 at the recommendation of the former CD producer of Tokuma Japan Communications, Mr Katsuya Sei. The Trio has given annual concerts in Tokyo since then, and in January 2019 has performed in New Zealand the Beethoven Triple Concerto.
Yasuko Toba has studied at the Juilliard School and has concertized in the USA, Europe and in Japan. She has made over 10 solo CDs and her interpretations of Mozart is especially praised.
Yuka Eguchi is one of the leading concertmasters in Japan. Sha was the concertmaster of Japan Philharmonic Orchestra, and of Tokyo Mozart Players, while making a prominent
career playing solo and chamber music. Ms. Eguchi began playing the violin at
age three. She entered Toho Gakuen High school (Tokyo), and during her second
year, she won first prize in The 55th Japan Music Competition. After graduation,
Ms. Eguchi went abroad to Indiana University. In 1991, she won fourth prize at
Washington International Competition and in 1993, third prize at the prestigious
Paganini Competition in Genova. After returning to Japan in 1994, Ms. Eguchi
has played many recitals, including NHK FM Recital and Shin-nittetsu Promising
Artist Series Recitals. Ms. Eguchi has been the concertmaster of Tokyo Mozart
Players (2006-2011), Japan Philharmonic Orchestra (2007-2014), and guest-concertmaster in orchestras throughout Japan. She has been the assistant concertmaster of New Zealand Symphony Orchestra (2015〜).
Special lecturer of Suzuki Method Japan (2018~)
The cellist, Shin-ichi Eguchi, started to play violin at age 3, and later at age 8 switched to playing the cello. At age 10 and 11 as one of the 10 members of the Suzuki Method, he toured America, Australia and Europe and played at Carnegie Hall in New York, Sydney Opera House and many other well known halls.
In 19991 after graduating from Toho Music Highschool School, he went to study at Brussel in Belgium.
In 1992 he entered Paris Conservatoire in France with Distinction.
In 1997 graduated Paris Conservatoire with Premier Prix.
Since January 2000 Shin-ichi Eguchi is a member of the Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra, and is now the Assistant Solo of the cello section.
Mr Eguchi plays in many chamber music groups such as string duo and string quartet, and has formed String Trio ‘Shoubu’, has performed numerous solo recitals and concertos.
He has studied violin with Hiromu Yasuda, Mitsuru Satou, Keiko Matsunami, Gilbert Zanlonghi, Jean-Marie Gamard, Patrick Gabard, Mark Didier Thiralult.
